Your Plant-Based Burger Guide for Grill Season
Warm weather, longer days, and backyard BBQs—grill season is officially here. Whether you're fully plant-based or plant-curious, you can absolutely enjoy cookouts without sacrificing your goals (or flavor).
Burgers are the main event—and thankfully, there are tons of delicious plant-based options. From whole-food recipes to store-bought standbys, here’s how to build a better burger that’s satisfying, crowd-pleasing, and totally aligned with how you want to feel.
Homemade Plant-Based Burgers
Making your own veggie burgers can be super satisfying—especially when you find a recipe that tastes good. These are a couple I love:
Happy Herbivore Quick Burger
Simple, whole-food ingredients and flavorful, but pro tip: this one’s best baked in the oven. Note: These tend to be a bit more crumbly especially if you eat them as a leftover.

McDougall McVeggie Burger
These are hearty and freezer-friendly! I like to bake them, freeze them, and then reheat on the grill.
(You might want to add a little more salt than the recipe calls for.)

Store-Bought Burgers
Short on time? Feeding a mixed crowd? These ready-to-go options are easy to throw on the grill and satisfy just about everyone.
Boca Original Vegan Burgers
High in protein, low in fat, and a great classic choice. Add lettuce, tomato, onion, and mustard—and you’re good to go.
Beyond or Impossible Burgers
These are a little richer (higher in fat) but deliver that meaty texture and flavor that even omnivores love. Perfect if you're hosting or want that indulgent, "classic burger" vibe.
Next time you fire up the grill, try one of these plant-based burgers—homemade or store-bought. Add your favorite toppings and enjoy your summer cookout your way.
